BREAST UPLIFT
Many factors such as having children, lactating and gravity itself can take its toll on womens’ breasts. As skin loses elasticity breasts tend to lose their firmness and their shape. The breast uplift aims to lift the breast.
If your breasts are small or have lost their volume breast implants along with a breast uplift can be performed.
Not many risks are associated with this operation however, it can interfere with future lactating so it is best done when no future children are planned.
Risks in this operation are rare if performed by a highly experienced and fully credited surgeon. The risk of infection and bleeding exist although these are unusual. The scars are permanent however they are not noticeable in a bikini. Smokers have more risk of the scars not healing as well as they should.
Anaesthesia
This type of cosmetic surgery is usually carried out under general anaesthetic.
This operation lasts from around 2-3 hours. There exist different techniques for performing this operation. The surgeon will decide which is the best for you. The operation involves repositioning the nipple. When the excess skin is removed from the breast, the nipple is positioned higher.
After this operation a bandage and a special elastic bra is usually required. The patient will feel pain, swelling and discomfort especially for the first 48 hours after this operation. However, this can be minimised via medication prescribed to you by your plastic surgeon. The bandage can be taken off several days later, however you will be required to wear the elasticised bra for around 4 weeks (depending on what your surgeon recommends).
Losing sensitivity around the nipples is a complication that can occur. In most cases the sensitivity comes back after 6 weeks (sometimes more) however in some people this can be permanent.
Recovery takes 1-2 weeks but all physical exercise and anything that slightly puts strain on the breasts should be avoided for at least a month and thereafter taken up very gradually.
Remember that this operation is not completely permanent as that over the years gravity, childbirth and the effects of time can take their toll and affect the shape of the breasts.
